Description: Starting with the lead up to the title character’s disappearance and then told mostly in flashbacks, this 1992 crime drama chronicles the rise to power of the notorious Jimmy Hoffa, union organizer and president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Played by Jack Nicholson, Hoffa is seen recruiting members from trucking firms and laundries around Detroit as early as the 1930s, making friends with drivers like future bodyguard Danny DeVito (who also directed and plays an amalgamation of real people from Hoffa’s life), and setting fire to businesses that won’t cooperate.
