Description: Based on an Akutagawa Prize-winning 2000 novella by Hisaki Matsuura, this Japanese drama follows Shuichi Kutani (Go Ayano), a director of erotic films known as “pinku eiga” or “pink films.” Around the turn of the 21st century, he meets Shoko Kirioka (Honami Satô), a young aspiring stage actress and the two begin a torrid affair. Years later, in 2012, Shoko’s body washes ashore after an apparent lover’s suicide with another director during the rainy season.
